Carolyn Zielger and her husband run Tee-Zed Products. This Australian company has offices globally, including Canada. It offers a line called Dreambaby. According to her, landlords often don’t like when tenants want to baby-proof rental properties, as they don’t need holes in the walls, that’s why Dreambaby uses special adhesives which don’t leave traces when safety products are removed.

“It’s necessary to develop products that don’t need screwing in,” – she says. “We use adhesives and other things that you can hide even inside cabinets.”

In case tenants decide to install baby-proofing themselves, Watson recommends putting in writing that they’re responsible for all damages. However, he says families are his favourite tenants, as they treat properties like their homes.

“It’s a good idea to increase the benefit of your tenancy. Our task as landlords is to get good tenants, so I always work with them individually. I see each tenant as a three-to-five-year plan.”
