TREB started working on this task after the Supreme Court of Canada rejected the Board’s appeal last month, asking not to let realtors post the data on password-protected sites because of privacy and copyright worries.

However, when the Supreme Court made its decision following three judicial processes during the previous seven years, the Board had to allow the data’s publication.

At the same time, companies who released the information before TREB’s permission, received letters from TREB demanding to close the access. Otherwise their TREB’s membership could be canceled or legal action could be taken.
