At the same time, Re/Max predicts a 1.7% prices increase in 2019.

Moreover, it expects real estate across Canada to stabilize as buyers feel a stronger influence of higher interest rates.

“Although the demand isn’t as strong as earlier, it still remains very high”, – noted Christopher Alexander, executive vice-president of Re/Max.

“The government says it may be not as conservative with raising rates as in the past, and it causes uncertainty, as people don’t know what to expect”.

According to the report, certain smaller cities will show larger price growth. For instance, London, Ont., may show a 17% annual increase, with Chilliwack, B.C., and Windsor, Ont., following at 13%.

In Alexander’s opinion, a more stable housing market is good news for both buyers and sellers.
