Morneau says the Liberal government has concentrated on three main real estate issues since 2015: the lack of affordable supply, sharp prices increase in some markets, and helping millennials enter the market.

He says the government has already taken a number of measures for raising the supply and cooling hot markets by implementing stress tests, limiting borrowers’ ability to receive too large mortgages.

In Morneau’s opinion, helping millennials enter the real estate market is now the main task, and Ottawa is working on several things.
