Halton Region, including Burlington, Halton Hills, Milton and Oakville, accounted for 10.1% of the GTA’s residential property sales at the end of 2018, marking a 2.3% increase in 5 years. In case of Toronto West, the growth almost reached 1%, and sales represented a 10.5% share.
Most of Halton Region’s activity was caused by calls for affordable housing, leading to broader and faster construction.
“The necessary product appeared amid the GTA reporting its lowest inventory in years and sharp prices growth. Freehold properties in the suburbs met the affordability criteria.”
During the period from 2013 and 2016, Halton Region showed an average of 3,100 housing starts.
