Meanwhile, gasoline prices went up by 17.1% from a year ago. “Monthly increase reached 2.9%, and we may see another 5% hike next month”, – says Bank of Montreal economist Doug Porter.

In case we exclude gasoline from calculations, Canada’s overall inflation rate will be 1.8%.

As you know, the central bank watches the inflation data closely when making its rate decision. Now the number is within the Bank’s target limits.
