About 20-30% of all homes belong to investors in some Canadian provinces

A recent report by Statistics Canada shows that investors owned almost one-third of properties in certain provinces in 2020.

Investors made up 31.5% of homeowners in Nova Scotia and 29% in New Brunswick. British Columbia follows with 23.3%, then go Manitoba with 20.4% and Ontario with 20.2%.

If we combine their results, we’ll see that less than one in five properties in these provinces was considered an investment property back then.

Real estate units used as an investment belonged mostly to people living in the same province as the house.

At the same time, condo apartments were used for investment purposes more often, with Ontario alone showing the highest rate of 41.9%.
