In addition to it, Minister Flaherty provided a list of the recent Canadian achievements in increasing the efficiency of these international financial institutions:

• $840 million support of the IMF’s Poverty Reduction and Growth Trust in order to encourage the concessional lending for the low-income countries;

• Canadian support to “forgive” Haiti’s $825 million debt to international institutions;

• $291 million in support for certain climate change projects through the World Bank’s International Finance Corporation (IFC);

• $600 million in support for the agricultural development, including $230 million for the World Bank Group Global Agriculture and Food Security Program.
