The poll sampled 1,000 independent, female homebuyers of different ages: 37% were between the ages of 18 and 29, 30% between 30 and 39, and 33% were over 40. Almost half of the respondents consider financial security to be the best thing about homeownership.
“Yes, the comforts of home have become very important to women, but the financial reasons for home ownership have also increased,” says TD group product manager Chris Wisniewski.
35% per cent of the sample named a backyard as one of the best part homeownership. Another third said it was having a quiet and placid space for themselves.
Over a third of the sample said they did not consult with anyone, when they were purchasing their home. Only 22% addressed a real estate agent to get good advice.
