Canada made way for only the United States, Japan, China and Germany, while France, Hong Kong, the U.K., Switzerland and Italy took lower positions.

According to Ricardo Tranjan, senior researcher at the Canadian Centre for Policy Alternatives (CCPA), ​it means rich people are increasing their incomes much faster than average Canadians.

“During the period from 2012 to 2016, the average net worth of Canada’s richest families went up by 37%, while average Canadians showed only a 16% gain”, – he noted.
