As a result, the jobless rate rose by 0.2% to 6%. Meanwhile, economists predicted only 20,000 new jobs for June.
“The headline numbers are better than expected, but the details are not so optimistic”, – noted the Bank of Montreal economist Doug Porter.
About 70% jobs were added in the part-time sector, and the wage growth was slower in comparison to a sharp May increase. Nevertheless, the main sectors, including construction, manufacturing and natural resources reported strong growth.
