But instead, February showed the worst jobs performance for the last three months: the full-time employment decreased by 23,800. The main losses came in the business and building sector.
According to Statistics Canada, out of the 322,000 jobs created over the past 12 months, more have been part-time jobs than full-time.
And although the employment numbers are still rising, it shows us that it’s too early for Canada to talk about the full economic recovery.
Actually, Alberta turned out to be the only Canadian province with a significant employment gain of about 14,000. Ontario and Saskatchewan showed even small declines.
