Nowadays there are three main types of banks in Canada:
1.    Banks that can accept deposits and are NOT subsidiaries of a foreign bank.
2.    Banks that can accept deposits and are subsidiaries of a foreign bank.
3.    Foreign banks that can carry on business in Canada
It should also be noted that today’s Canadian banking system is considered to be the most reliable in the whole world.
